The Gallipoli Campaign of 1915-16, known as the battle of Gallipoli. It was an unsuccessful attempt by the allied powers to control the sea route from Europe to Russia during WW1
It all began with a failed noval attack by British and French ships in February to March 1915, it continued with a major land invasion of the Gallipoli Peninsula on April 25. It involved British, French , Australian and New Zealand troops also know as ANZAC. In mid October, Allied forces took big hits from the opposing team.
Evacuation began in December 1915 and was completed early the following January. The British Government made a decision to make the troops evacuate, and it will begin from Salva Bay in December 7.
The last few troops left Hellas on January 9, 1916. This war cost more than 250000 casualties, including more than 46000 deaths.
